How To Claim PPI
If you have ever had a loan, credit card, store card, catalogue account, overdraft, mortgage or car finance, you need to check if you are due compensation for mis-sold PPI. With the PPI deadline looming, now is the time to act!
How do you start your PPI claim? You have two choices, either make your PPI claim yourself, or use a claims management company such as My Claim Solved. Both have advantages and disadvantages.
Making a PPI Claim Yourself
Making a complaint for mis-sold PPI yourself can be time consuming, you will need to write a complaint letter to your provider stating the reasons for the complaint, once the provider has acknowledged your complaint, they have 8 weeks to investigate and determine if you were due compensation for mis-sold PPI.
If the provider rejects your PPI complaint, you have the option to escalate your complaint to an organisation called the Financial Ombudsman Service. They will independently investigate your PPI claim and make a judgement on if you are due compensation or not, if they decide you are entitled to PPI compensation, the provider must abide by their decision.
The PPI claim process is not only time consuming, but it can also be difficult to navigate through the paperwork and correspondence with different providers and organisations. But, if you are willing to put in the effort and the research, you will save yourself the fees that a claims management company will charge you.
Using a Claims Management Company to Make Your PPI Claim
Using a claims management company (CMC) is the easiest and quickest way to make a PPI claim if you have never made one before.
All the correspondence with your provider is dealt with by the CMC. My Claim Solved has over 6 years' experience dealing with the banks and their tactics of avoiding paying customers what is rightfully theirs.
Banks have wrongly rejected complaints in the past, although this doesn't happen in every case, there is the possibility of it causing you more distress and wasted time, and we can speculate that many PPI complaints are abandoned because of these stone walling tactics by some providers.
But you can be assured that My Claim Solved will not give up the fight that easily, the experience and knowledge we have in dealing with the banks will give you the best opportunity to reclaim your mis-sold PPI.
How far back can you claim PPI?
With the initial introduction of PPI before 1970, there is almost no limit on how far back you can go. The main mis-selling of PPI came around in the early 80s as banks decided to start selling the product in larger amounts to consumers.
PPI was sold alongside Mortgages, Loans, Credit cards and even automotive finance agreements. This continued all the way through until April 2011 when stricter guidance came into effect regarding the sale of Payment Protection Insurance.
You should never assume that the organisation that originally mis-sold you PPI would treat your claim fairly, even if you decide to make the claim yourself, be vigilant!
